This is the danger with a "green card shop" company. They constantly have people joining and leaving them. Not a problem for H-1b but a major problem with GC processing.
Here is an example with company X which has ability pay for up to 50 employees at any point.
X applies 30 I-140s in 2005 [less than 50]
X applies 25 I-140s in 2006, and 20 of the 2005 count have quit. Total employees are less than 50.
X applies 30 I-140s in 2007, and another 20 have quit. Total employees are less than 50.
One would think since they have less than 50 empoyees and ability to pay for 50 employees, they are safe. This will work for H-1b, but not for GCs.
Since GC is for future employment, the company is required to have the ability to pay all 85 employees after they become permanent residents. It does not matter if they have quit the company. The asumption is all 85 will be employed by X on GC approval and so X is expected to be able to pay all of them.
This is what has happened here. When such a problem comes up, then they can (and sometimes do) pull back previously approved 140s too.
Most employees who leave the GC sponsoring employer either invoke AC21 or port their PD�s with another employer. Hence the GC sponsoring employer could very well go ahead and withdraw their I-140�s so that they are no longer burdened to prove ATP for all ex-employees.

We need to contact the ombudsman office and talk to first Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) Ombudsman Mr Prakash . This office can pursue INS to change its policies and has the authority to do that.

What else do you want Bro. Give 30 days time to USCIS to send your card. we, most of us, would me more satisfied just to see the magical words - Current Status: Card production ordered in our case status.
Regarding holding card in physically, have to wait some time. Which should not be more taxing than waiting to see the magical words.
I started calling my friends the same night that I got GC, but back in my mind I was still not sure and thought "whatif USCIS made a mistake" and thought may be I should wait until I get the card.
I have spent coupla nights searching forums what kind of email people get when GC approved. I found most get Approval Email and Card production. I got only one email. I am still not able to believe I got GC. It was like a distant dream few weeks ago.

The Senate and the house may be passing the tax refund bill soon (due to slowing economy). There is lot of pressure on the government to act soon.
Can we get them to attach atleast one of our provisions with these bills - the most important and non controversial being recapture of unused visa numbers.

advantage I will have is I am guaranteed to stay till my 9th year H1 expires which still has 2+ yrs left, and at the same time take second job on EAD and travel on AP. If I choose to switch to EAD then if the 485 decision is against then I would have no option of staying here.

in the $1000 bracket there's some choice.
Personally, it's a tough space......, glad I am not making that decision.
for personal bias reasons, only the 350D or D70/50 are worth looking at.
